Dave,
What a great gift for Christmas. My favorite gift for myself was when my sleep apnea went away. I appreciate all the hard work you do on the blog and the podcast.

Dave,
I discovered your podcast this week after receiving an iPod from my wife for Christmas (I love it!) I can identify with you so very much. I gave up on being able to loose weight and keep it off in 2004 when I decided to have gastric by-pass surgery. Of the 100 lbs I really needed to have lost, I only lost 75 and have in the past couple of years gained back about 15 of them, so I'm only 60 pounds lighter. I'm still obese at 5'7" and 230 lbs. I'm recovering from gall bladder surgery at the moment, and an EGD test done prior to this surgery showed I may have Barrett's esophagus, so your thoughts on one's mortality staring one in the face really hit home! I am absolutely going to have to make more major changes in my life. I haven't been exercising, and the fact that I can't eat as much food has contributed to a very sluggish metabolism (I suspect) I have enjoyed listening to your podcast and am encouraged. I feel like we could be "best friends" You appear to be a very thoughful individual. I'm not sure what I hope to accomplish by responding to you, but maybe I'll have more motivation. I really can't seem to communicate very well this way, but I'll try. (assuminmg, of course, that you actually get the message.) Oh, I am 46 years old and have two teenage sons and a lovely, supportive wife. I don't want to die young, either, and I especially want to have a better quality of life than I will if I'm not successful in making some major breakthroughs. Things haven't been too bad yet, but the handwriting is on the wall...

Hi Dave, I recently purchased an Ipod and discovered your podcasts about 2 weeks ago. I am obese also. I need to loose about 150 pounds about half my current weight. Thanks to you and others in my life, I am looking to the new year to be a time of forgiveness of old behavior and opportunities for growth and maturity in my life. I am trying to catch up on the older podcasts so I can understand where you were when you started. Anyway, thanks for putting yourself out there for all of us to relate. I wish you the best!
Kimberly
You are all so awesome! I wish you all the best in health and happiness. Let's do this! Dave O
