Holidays

I've gotten a few emails about the holidays and how I did.

To tell you the truth, they came and went so quickly that I didn't really have a chance to think about the junk food. I took the family to Disney World for a week during New Years and managed to get gallons of water for our room and a blender for shakes in the morning. The day went by with almonds, bars and fruits in a backpack. I did however have a few of those enormous turkey legs in Epcot. Yummmy.

As for desserts. I think that my taste buds and lifestyle is finally changing. I do have cravings but can manage them with PB and Sugar free jelly sandwiches or non fat frozen yogurt. Once in a while, I'll sneak a cookie or two, but find that if I really savor the flavor, then the craving will go away. That's for now. I hope that stays with me because I really don't want to fall into the slump again.

I have managed to maintain during the holidays and am off to a real hot January with a new exercise routine. I'm doing resistance first then cardio for two 15-20 min. sessions afterwards. My forearms are getting very hard (I remember in HS that this was the case also; seems that they are the strongest part of my upper body in terms of quick and solid development) and you know about the vein. Things are indeed changing and especially on the inside. I'm so psyched!

I also have a protein with oatmeal shake before my workouts for energy. Not a lot, but some extra calories to really give me a boost in the am hours. I'm finding that it keeps me more alert and focused during exercise.

How did you do? I'd love to hear.

Good job on your podcast from yesterday. I listened to it this morning on my first 100% effort workout since recovering fully from my cold and it motivated me to be true to and honest with myself and my goals and push it.

Thanks for the podcasts. I work from 1pm to 11:30 PM, four days a week. I have a very hard time motivating myself to get up and go to the gym and unfortunately, I haven't been to the gym on regular basis. But, every night, when I'm wide awake, I tell myself I am going to the gym. However, morning rolls around and I am still in bed by 11pm. It's a vicious circle for me... I was going three times a week and felt great, then it was two time a week and not I haven't been for two weeks. I'm so frustrated wtih myself. Oh, by the way, I am overweight by about 50 pounds!!

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It's making me think.
